Everything I use every single day for the most perfectly smooth, creamy, ice-cold iced vanilla matcha latte - plus the slow morning habits that make it all worth it.

I am going to be completely honest with you. Six weeks ago I thought matcha was just a trend. One of those things people drink because it looks good on their Instagram story. Then I tried it. And I replaced my morning coffee overnight and haven't looked back since.

I am now on a full subscription for my matcha powder. That is how committed I am.

Why I Ditched My Morning Coffee for My Matcha Latte

I'll be honest, when it comes to matcha vs coffee - I was sceptical. I've been a morning coffee drinker for most of my life and the idea of replacing it felt like a big deal. But after about a week of switching to matcha every morning, I genuinely didn't miss it.

So when it comes to matcha vs coffee, here's why matcha is such a good swap:

  • No crash. Coffee gives you a big spike of caffeine followed by the inevitable slump about an hour later. Matcha releases its caffeine much more slowly thanks to an amino acid called L-theanine, which smooths out the whole experience. Calm, focused energy rather than a jittery buzz.

  • Less anxiety. L-theanine is linked to reduced stress and improved focus - which means you get the alertness without the wired, on-edge feeling that coffee can sometimes trigger, especially on an empty stomach.

  • Packed with antioxidants. Matcha is rich in catechins - a type of antioxidant linked to supporting metabolism, reducing inflammation and skin health. The fact that my powder also has collagen in it feels like a lovely bonus on top.

  • It slows you down. You can't rush a good iced matcha latte. And in a world that constantly tells us to go faster, there's something really intentional about starting your morning with something that asks you to pause. Very soft girl era.

But it's not just about the drink. It's about what happens around the drink. My slow matcha morning has genuinely become my favourite part of the day. Eye masks on, planner open, no rushing, no scrolling, just me and my iced vanilla matcha latte in my little ribbed glass cup.

What I Do Whilst Sipping My Matcha

This is the part that turns a morning drink into an actual slow morning ritual. Whilst my matcha is going down, I do three things. Under-eye masks on, planner open, sometimes journaling. That's the whole routine. It sounds simple because it is.
